RASC: After the publication of the recent report of Amnesty International and the International Commission of Jurists on the situation of women in Afghanistan, the Independent Human Rights Commission of Afghanistan asked the international community to adopt new methods of pressure on the Taliban group.

Last night, on May 27, this commission published a statement saying: “The Independent Human Rights Commission of Afghanistan, which monitors the human rights situation in Afghanistan and has continuously, raised its voice about the human rights situation of women in Afghanistan. This organization recognized by international institutions and The governments that are influential in Afghanistan’s affairs want to examine, identify and determine serious and new methods of pressure on the Taliban group in consultation with human rights institutions and civil activists.

Based on the declaration, the published report considered the crime of the Taliban group against women as an example of a crime against humanity and asked the international community to identify these crimes and impose accountability mechanisms on the Taliban group.

It should be noted that on Friday, Amnesty International, in cooperation with the International Commission of Jurists, published a report entitled (Taliban war against women: crime against humanity, gender harassment in Afghanistan).

In this report, it is emphasized that the severe restrictions of the Taliban group and the illegal suppression of the rights of women and girls by this group should be investigated as possible crimes under international law, including crimes against humanity and sexual harassment.
