RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s Supreme Court announced that the group has recently carried out public lashings of two individuals in Badghis province as part of their ongoing campaign of public punishments. According to a press release from the Taliban’s Supreme Court on Tuesday, July 2, two individuals accused of “adultery” were each given 15 lashes in the province.

The press release did not disclose the identities of the individuals but mentioned that the punishment was executed by the Badghis Provincial Court following the Supreme Court’s approval. Local Taliban officials in Uruzgan province announced yesterday that 18 more individuals are scheduled to be lashed in the provincial capital later today.

In a recent instance, sources reported that the group lashed two individuals in Malistan district, Ghazni province, forcing the public to witness the punishment at gunpoint. Since regaining control of the country, the Taliban have conducted public lashings of accused individuals across various provinces, remaining unaccountable to any authority.

Reports indicate that the Taliban have only punished ordinary citizens while refraining from punishing their own members, even when they have been arrested on various charges.
