Armed Assailants Abduct Young Son of Merchant in Mazar-i-Sharif

RASC News Agency: Local sources from Balkh Province report that unidentified armed assailants have kidnapped the young son of Haji Abdullah Panbefrosh, a prominent merchant in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif. Sources informed the media on Monday, June 27th, that the incident occurred the previous day. The kidnappers, who reportedly resembled Taliban members, abducted the young boy in a vehicle and fled the scene.

Since the Taliban’s takeover of the country, the rate of criminal activities, particularly targeted killings, kidnappings, and thefts, has surged across various regions, with many incidents going uninvestigated. Many citizens believe that unemployment and poverty have driven some individuals to commit such crimes. Additionally, there are instances where citizens suspect Taliban involvement in these incidents.

Reports of increasing criminal activities come amidst the Taliban’s persistent claims that nationwide security is maintained and that people’s lives and property are safeguarded. However, these reports suggest a starkly different reality.
