RASC News Agency: Local Taliban officials report that recent floods in the Sar-e Pol and Faryab provinces have claimed 14 lives, with several individuals still missing. Habibullah, the spokesperson for the Taliban governor in Sar-e Pol, stated on Thursday, May 23, that the floods struck the village of Sofak in the Kohistanat district the previous night.

According to the spokesperson, the incident resulted in the deaths of four women and one child, while 150 homes and hundreds of acres of farmland were destroyed. Meanwhile, Taliban officials in Faryab reported that the death toll from the devastating floods in the village of Gharji in the Lowlash Kohistan district has risen to nine, with eight individuals still missing.

The press office of the Taliban’s police command in Faryab confirmed the news, adding that the floods have destroyed local residents’ essential supplies, leaving them in urgent need of immediate assistance. In recent days, floods in several provinces have caused significant financial damage and numerous casualties, particularly in the northern regions, increasing the urgent need for humanitarian aid.
