RASC News Agency: Local sources in Uruzgan province have reported a fatal mine explosion resulting in the death of a mine worker and injury to another individual. Sources informed the media that this incident occurred at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14th, in the “Khoramay” area of Tarinkoot city.

The incident unfolded while mine workers were clearing mines left over from previous battles in the Khoramay area of Tarinkot city. It is known that mines and unexploded ordnance from forty years of conflict in Afghanistan sometimes lead to casualties among local residents and employees of mine-clearance organizations.

According to statistics released by the United Nations Mine Action Service, nearly 606 square kilometers of Afghanistan soil are contaminated with unexploded mines and war ordnance. Previously, in Zabul province, one child was killed, and five others were injured due to the explosion of a leftover mine from past wars.
