RASC News Agency: The senior member and head of the political office of the Taliban group in Qatar recently declared that allegations regarding the group’s pursuit of nuclear weapons are without foundation. According to information released to the media on Wednesday, January 17, Sohail Shaheen, the head of the political office of the Taliban group in Qatar, refuted assertions of the group’s attempts to acquire nuclear weapons, dismissing them as groundless.

Citing Shaheen, Tolo News reported that he articulated the group’s intention not to seek nuclear weapons but rather to reconstruct the military infrastructure left by foreign forces in Afghanistan due to the two-decade occupation. He stated, “I completely reject these claims; they are untrue. The Taliban in Afghanistan are focused on reconstructing the ravages of the twenty-year occupation in the country, not engaging in a nuclear arms race. These claims are entirely baseless.” This statement follows earlier reports suggesting that a delegation from the Taliban group in Afghanistan traveled to North Korea to obtain nuclear weapons.

Subsequent to the publication of these reports, a Taliban spokesperson informed the media that the group has not entered into discussions with any country to acquire nuclear weapons and that their forces possess sufficient military infrastructure. This situation arises amid previous reports indicating that Taliban members have established arms dealing shops through leftover American weapons.
