Young Man Commits Suicide in Kunduz Province

RASC News Agency: Local Taliban authorities in Kunduz province announced that a young man recently ended his own life in the province. Jumaddin Khaksar, spokesperson for the Taliban police command in Kunduz province, reported that the incident took place on Monday, April 29, in Alkozi village, part of District 4 in Kunduz city.

According to the Taliban official, the young man, named Samiullah, hanged himself due to mental health problems, ultimately taking his own life. Since the Taliban assumed control of the country, the suicide rate among citizens, particularly women, girls, and young people, has risen sharply across various regions of the country for a variety of reasons.

Unemployment, poverty, mental health challenges, restrictions imposed by the Taliban on citizens’ lives, domestic violence, and other factors are cited as causes for the rise in suicides. Experts suggest that implementing mental health programs, educational initiatives to raise awareness of individual rights, and creating opportunities for education and knowledge acquisition may help to prevent suicides.
