RASC News Agency: Local sources have reported that Taliban intelligence forces have detained Mawlawi Shakrullah Quraishi, the director of the Taliban’s anti-drug campaign in Dasht-e-Qala district of Takhar province, on charges of selling and smuggling alcohol. Sources informed the media on Thursday, April 18th, that Mawlawi Shokrullah was apprehended yesterday while smuggling 13 bottles of “Tajik Vodka” in the Kokcha Bridge area of Dasht-e-Qala district and was transferred to Taluqan city.
According to sources, the bottles of alcohol were found inside Mawlawi Shakrullah’s vehicle by Taliban intelligence forces as he intended to travel to Farkhar district for leisure with three of his friends. The Taliban group has not yet commented on this incident. Previously, some Taliban officials in various provinces of the country have been arrested and released again on charges of various corruptions.
Taliban intelligence forces also detained Alimgul Haqani’s brother, the former head of the Taliban’s passport office, two years ago during a gathering involving dancing, bottles of alcohol, and several passport documents.
Reports indicate that he was also accused of corruption in the Taliban’s passport office, but he has not been punished yet. According to citizens, the Taliban only punish ordinary members of society, and their own members are not punished despite committing various crimes.
