RASC News Agency: As part of ongoing international humanitarian efforts, the European Union has committed $100 million, while the Czech Republic has pledged 20 million crowns to support Afghanistan. The Taliban’s Ministry of Economy announced that the European Union’s contribution is designated for “supporting humanitarian and developmental projects in the agricultural sector.”
In a statement released on Thursday, November 7, the Ministry of Economy revealed that Veronika Boskovic Pohar, the acting head of the EU delegation in Afghanistan, confirmed the pledge during a meeting with Din Mohammad Hanif, the acting Minister of Economy. Furthermore, the EU representative noted that a conference will soon be held to promote small-scale economic activities and entrepreneurship within Afghanistan.
The EU’s representative emphasized that developmental aid, along with support for the private sector and entrepreneurship, could lead to significant improvements in the economic well-being of Afghanistani families. This announcement follows a series of aid packages announced by the European Union this year, aimed at addressing Afghanistan’s various challenges. Recently, the EU allocated 31 million euros to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to improve health services in the country.
Additionally, the United Nations Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan reported that the Czech Republic has donated 20 million crowns to support Afghanistan’s recovery. The Trust Fund praised the Czech Republic’s dedication to supporting Afghanistan communities during these difficult times. In its statement, the Fund added, “Together, we can build resilience and offer sustainable assistance to those in need.”
