RASC News Agency: Rahmatullah Nabil, the former head of the National Directorate of Security, asserts that the Taliban’s interpretation of Islam not only contradicts human and Islamic principles but also projects a distorted image of Islam globally. Nabil made this statement on Saturday, July 6, in a congratulatory message to Masoud Pezeshkian, the newly elected President of Iran, contrasting the governance of Iran and the Taliban as two regimes with vastly different interpretations of Islam.
He remarked, “The disparity between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Taliban regime underscores their divergent interpretations and perspectives of Islam.” The former security chief emphasized that, according to the Islamic Republic of Iran, participating in elections is a religious duty that “respects human values and civil rights within a structured framework.”
Nabil further noted that the Islamic Republic upholds women’s rights in terms of employment, education, and participation in social and political activities. Conversely, he added that the Taliban regime enforces strict and restrictive laws on society with a primitive interpretation of Islam, disregarding fundamental human rights, women’s rights, and the right to elect leadership.
According to Nabil, this approach by the Taliban “illustrates a double standard in the interpretation of Islam, leading to misunderstandings and divisions among Muslims.” Rahmatullah Nabil urged Islamic countries to prevent the Taliban from tarnishing Islam’s image with their actions.
Since their takeover, the Taliban have imposed severe restrictions on women’s education and employment, as well as on the social and political activities of all citizens. They do not recognize the people’s vote in choosing the government leadership.
