RASC News Agency: Local sources allege that the Taliban recently executed a former member of the local government’s police forces in Dasht-e-Qala district of Takhar province. Sources notified the media on Thursday, April 18th, that the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. last night in the village of “Alang,” situated within the jurisdiction of Dasht-e-Qala district of Takhar.

The former soldier, identified as Islamuddin, had previously served as a local police officer. According to sources, two Taliban insurgents riding motorcycles ambushed Islamuddin as he was returning from the fields near his home. The Taliban group has yet to issue a statement regarding this incident. The detention and execution of former soldiers by the Taliban are not unprecedented occurrences.

On January 17th of the previous year, for instance, the Taliban publicly executed a former government soldier upon his return from Iran in Kabul city.

International human rights organizations have consistently accused the Taliban group of massacring, detaining, and torturing former government soldiers for over two years, although the group has steadfastly denied these allegations.
