RASC News Agency: Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar has reiterated the imperative for the establishment of an inclusive government in Afghanistan, dominated by the Taliban. During a session in the Indian Parliament on December 15th, Mr. Shankar underscored that India’s approach to Afghanistan is grounded in historical relations, friendship with its people, and adherence to relevant UN resolutions. It is noteworthy that New Delhi’s position on recognizing the Taliban aligns with the stance of the international community.
In the last two years, several Afghanistani diplomats have departed India to seek residency in third countries. Nevertheless, the diplomats who remain have continued their diplomatic engagements at Afghanistan missions in India. Addressing the news of the Afghanistan embassy’s closure in New Delhi, surfaced last month, the senior Indian official asserted that this development is primarily linked to internal power struggles and the departure of diplomats seeking asylum in Western nations.
Reportedly, Jaishankar highlighted this matter while India, along with other nations and the international community, has not yet granted recognition to the Taliban group. India has consistently emphasized the necessity for a comprehensive government in Afghanistan under the Taliban’s authority. Despite this, India has consistently stressed that Afghanistan’s territory must not be utilized for terrorist activities against any nation. The governing system should prevent Afghanistan from becoming a safe haven for terrorist organizations, thus posing a threat to regional and international security.
It is crucial to note that the international community calls for the official recognition of the Taliban contingent upon the formation of an all-encompassing government in Afghanistan, led by the Taliban, which upholds human rights, especially those of women and girls, as well as the rights of minorities. However, the group has yet to take concrete action in this regard.
