Discovery of Child’s Body in Kunar Province

RASC News Agency: Local sources in Kunar province report the discovery of a young child’s body in the river in Nari district. Sources informed the media on Monday, May 6, that the child, who had gone missing the previous afternoon, was found later that evening in the waters of Nari district.

According to the sources, the child was a resident of Sau village in Nari district. Kidnappers reportedly killed him first and then threw his body into the river. Local Taliban authorities in Kunar province have not yet commented on the killing of the young child.

Since the Taliban regained control of the country, the rate of criminal activity—particularly mysterious and targeted killings, kidnappings, and armed robberies—has increased. The lack of follow-up on such cases by authorities, along with poverty, unemployment, and personal enmity, are among the reasons cited for such incidents in the country.
