RASC News Agency: On December 11th in Ghor Province, a young man succumbed to the severe beating and torture inflicted upon him by the Taliban. The incident unfolded in Tolak district, where the Taliban arrested and detained the young man, identified as Sediqullah, on charges of theft. Sources indicate that he endured six days and nights of brutal torture within the Taliban’s prison in Ghor province. The intensity of the torture led to his loss of consciousness, prompting his family to rush him to a hospital in Herat for treatment. He passed away four days later.
The Taliban group in Ghor province has not offered an explanation for this incident. It is crucial to recognize that this is not an isolated case, as the Taliban has a documented history of arresting, torturing, imprisoning, and even fatally harming both former government soldiers and civilians across various provinces in Afghanistan. These actions, carried out under various pretexts, reveal a pattern of violent and oppressive behavior, particularly against non-Pashtun citizens, resulting in numerous rights violations.
The ongoing reports of the Taliban’s arrests and torture of citizens raise profound concerns. The loss of this young man’s life serves as a reminder of the group’s brutality and disregard for human rights. It is imperative for the international community to address these egregious violations and hold the Taliban accountable for their actions. The people of Afghanistan deserve to reside in a society where their rights are honored and safeguarded, free from the threat of arbitrary arrests and torture.
