According to Mamond Zai, most of the former Afghanistani diplomats in India have left the country, leaving only those who support the Taliban.
He specifically mentioned individuals such as Zakia Wardak, the Consul General in Mumbai; Said Mohammad Ibrahim Khil, the Consul General in Hyderabad; and Mohammad Qadir Shah, the commercial adviser of the Afghanistan Embassy in New Delhi, as supporters of the Taliban.
Mamond Zai also highlighted the growing closeness between the Indian government and the Taliban in recent months. He stated that relations between the two sides have improved significantly. However, Indian officials have not yet responded to these statements, and it is worth noting that the Afghanistan embassy in New Delhi recently announced the permanent suspension of its activities.
In a separate interview, Shir Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, the political deputy of the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed that they are in contact with the political representatives of Afghanistan in India. He further mentioned that the Afghanistan embassy in New Delhi is expected to reopen in the near future. These developments indicate a potential shift in the dynamics between the Indian government and the Taliban group.
