RASC News Agency: The Director General of Islamic Culture of Khorasan Razavi recently issued a statement highlighting the concerning situation of the Persian language in Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban group. Mohammad Hussainzada, during a meeting of the Persian Language and Literature Forum in Mashhad on December 5th, expressed his concerns about the hostile and aggressive behaviors towards the language. He emphasized that if Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Iran fail to adopt the right policies in this area, it will pose a significant challenge for Persian speakers.
During the meeting, Hussainzada drew attention to the historical decline of the Persian language in countries like India and Pakistan, which occurred 400 years ago. He expressed his worry about the invasion of the Persian language in Afghanistan. He further emphasized that any country lacking a comprehensive plan and program in the field of language and culture is destined to face decline. It is worth mentioning that officials from the previous government of Afghanistan had also expressed concerns about the serious danger faced by the Persian language in the country.
It is important to note that since the Taliban group took control of Afghanistan, they have removed the Persian language from government institutions and scientific centers, replacing it with Pashto terms. Additionally, the Taliban has made learning the language mandatory in government institutions and has even labeled Farsi words as foreign words in some cases. This further exacerbates the challenges faced by Persian speakers in the country.
