RASC News Agency: Amnesty International has written a letter to Abdul Haq Wasiq, the head of intelligence for the Taliban group, urging him to put an end to the punishment of women who protest. The letter, which was made public on January 22nd, expresses Amnesty International’s concern regarding the ongoing arrests of protesters and the mistreatment of Manizha Sediqi in the Taliban group’s prison. The organization highlights that Mrs. Sediqi has been denied the right to communicate with her family and her defense lawyer and calls for her immediate and unconditional release.

Furthermore, Amnesty International’s letter reveals that the Taliban group has also restricted Manizha Sediqi’s access to healthcare. The organization’s findings indicate that her mental health is deteriorating while being held in the Taliban group’s prison. In addition to addressing the mistreatment of Mrs. Sediqi, Amnesty International criticizes the disappearance of human rights activists in Afghanistan and demands that the Taliban regime cease the arbitrary arrests of women and their family members.

It is important to note that Manizha Sediqi, a women’s rights activist, was apprehended by the Taliban group’s intelligence from Kabul over three months ago for reasons that remain unknown. Reports suggest that the Taliban group has been engaging in the arrest and torture of women protesters, women’s rights activists, as well as civil and educational activists throughout the country for more than two years.
