RASC News Agency: In the aftermath of the compelled expulsion of Afghanistani refugees from Pakistan, Julieta Valls, Assistant to the U.S. Secretary of State for Refugee Affairs, held distinct meetings with Asif Ali Durani, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, and a representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Islamabad. On Tuesday, December 5, Julieta Valls shared insights from these sessions on the X social media network, elucidating that the discussions primarily focused on Afghanistani refugees. She also alluded to her meeting with the UNHCR representative in Pakistan, signifying that essential dialogues on pertinent issues have transpired.

Concurrently, Asif Ali Durani, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, conveyed that he deliberated the predicament of Afghanistani refugees with Julieta Valls. According to available information, the U.S. Ambassador to Islamabad also engaged in this session. This unfolds as earlier reports from Pakistani media suggested that three key officials from the U.S. Department of State are scheduled to journey to Pakistan for deliberations on the circumstances of Afghanistani migrants. It is noteworthy that these discussions are occurring amidst Pakistan’s unprecedented escalation in forcibly expelling Afghanistani refugees over the past month.

As reported by Pakistani news agencies, upwards of 402,000 Afghanistani refugees have undergone involuntary expulsion from Pakistan and repatriation to their home country. Families returning from Pakistan have lamented about inhabiting dire conditions and are urgently soliciting assistance from international organizations.
