RASC News Agency: The Afghanistan Green Trend organization has expressed grave concerns over the sweeping restrictions imposed by the Taliban on Panjshiri residents, describing the measures as alarming and oppressive. Under the leadership of Amrullah Saleh, Green Trend has argued that the plight of Panjshiris in Afghanistan cities, particularly in Kabul, is far more severe and restrictive than the conditions endured by Muslims living in cities under Israeli occupation.
In a statement, the organization noted that the Taliban’s extensive restrictions on Panjshiris have escalated to the point where residents may soon require a quasi-residency permit to live in Afghanistan cities. The Green Trend characterized the situation as dire, accusing the Taliban of systematically creating unbearable living conditions for Panjshiris. International organizations have similarly raised concerns about the Taliban’s increasing restrictions and arbitrary arrests of Panjshiri youth.
Since their takeover of Afghanistan, the Taliban have reportedly detained, tortured, and, in some cases, executed Panjshiris under various pretexts, including alleged collaboration with the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, the Freedom Front, or general opposition to Taliban rule. Reports suggest that hundreds of Panjshiri youths are languishing in Taliban prisons, detained on allegations of ties to the National Resistance Front led by Ahmad Massoud, son of the late Ahmad Shah Massoud. These detainees have reportedly endured brutal torture, and in some cases, extrajudicial killings.
Human rights activists have highlighted that the Taliban’s persecution of Panjshiris is rooted in ethnic and regional bias. They argue that Panjshiris are being targeted for their ethnic Tajik identity, their regional origin, or simply for refusing to conform to the Taliban’s ideology a group widely condemned as a terrorist organization.
