RASC News Agency: Recent reports indicate that the Chinese Foreign Ministry has underscored the necessity for the Taliban group to embark on political reforms, bolster security measures, and enhance relations with neighboring nations before attaining complete diplomatic recognition from Beijing. Nevertheless, both China and Afghanistan have continued to host each other’s ambassadors and maintain diplomatic interactions. Wang Wenbin, the spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, asserted that China staunchly believes Afghanistan should not be isolated from the international community. He expressed optimism that Afghanistan would fulfill the expectations of the international community by establishing an inclusive and transparent political structure and implementing stable internal and external policies.

Wang Wenbin further accentuated China’s desire for Kabul to actively combat all forms of terrorism and cultivate harmonious relationships with countries worldwide, especially neighboring nations. China also encourages Afghanistan to integrate with the international community at the earliest opportunity. It is believed that by meeting these expectations, the Taliban will garner stronger support and eventually achieve diplomatic recognition. It is noteworthy that, since assuming power after the US withdrawal in August 2021, the Taliban has not received recognition from any country. Nevertheless, China has maintained certain ties with Kabul, providing economic support and investment for Afghanistan’s reconstruction.

China’s foreign ministry has expressed respect for the independent choices made by the Afghanistani people and their religious beliefs and national customs, as outlined in a position paper published earlier this year. While the Chinese government officially acknowledges the rulers of the Taliban in Afghanistan, it underscores the importance of the group undertaking necessary reforms and establishing positive relations with neighboring countries. The diplomatic recognition of the Taliban by China will hinge upon these factors. Despite the ongoing political situation, both China and Afghanistan have sustained diplomatic engagements, reflecting a level of cooperation between the two nations.
