RASC News Agency: Reports from Panjshir province have recently disclosed that the Taliban group apprehended a former government soldier in the region. On Sunday, December 3rd, media outlets revealed the arrest of Samiullah, a former member of the local army in the Parian district, by the Taliban’s intelligence unit from his residence in Koh Sar village.
It has been four days since Samiullah’s arrest, and there is still no information regarding his whereabouts. The motive behind the detention of this former soldier remains unknown, but sources suggest that the Taliban group is targeting young individuals residing in Panjshir villages, compelling them to abandon their homeland.
Despite the recent surge in arrests and imprisonment of Panjshir residents and former government soldiers by the Taliban group, it is crucial to note that the reason for Samiullah’s arrest has not been determined. In a separate incident, five youths from Panjshir, including a soldier who had recently crossed the border from Iran, were detained in Nimroz province.
It is worth mentioning that since assuming control of the country, the Taliban group has persistently arrested, tortured, imprisoned, and even killed soldiers from the previous government, despite their leader’s announcement of a general amnesty. Consequently, numerous citizens, particularly former government soldiers, have fled to neighboring countries due to fear and economic hardships. However, they now face the looming threat of forced deportation from these nations.
A myriad of both domestic and international entities, alongside foreign nations, have expressed their apprehension regarding the arbitrary detentions occurring. These entities have implored the Taliban group to cease their apprehension of Afghanistani citizens; however, the Taliban group has persisted in enforcing their policy of repression and oppression.
