RASC News Agency: Rahmatullah Nabil claims that the Taliban is actively exploring avenues to acquire tactical nuclear weapons, aiming to enhance its power in Afghanistan. Nabil, the former head of Afghanistan’s National Security Service, made these statements during a conference on Thursday, November 30, asserting that the Taliban group aspires to emulate nations like North Korea, Iran, China, and Russia in obtaining nuclear weapons as a symbol of modern military might. Nabil added that since taking control of Afghanistan following the withdrawal of Western forces, this group is striving for international recognition. Persisting in the implementation of a brutal, misogynistic regime in the country, the Taliban remains unrecognized by the United Nations.

Experts at the conference expressed skepticism about the Taliban’s capabilities, communications, or motivation to acquire tactical nuclear weapons. However, Nabil, in an interview on the sidelines of the conference with the Independent news network, emphasized the extreme danger of dismissing this possibility. Nabil stated, “Over the past two years, it has been proven that this group has reached greater strategic depths. They have access to the most sophisticated weapons and equipment of NATO forces.”

According to Nabil, they have gained access to advanced intelligence equipment and surveillance systems, currently exploiting this against the people of Afghanistan. It’s worth noting that after the U.S. departure, Afghanistan was left with military equipment worth billions of dollars, which has fallen into the hands of the Taliban group as a result.
