RASC News Agency: Several reports from Jalalabad city in Nangarhar province have confirmed that the Taliban group continues to restrict the lives of Afghanistani women and girls. The latest incident involves the prevention of women from exercising and walking inside the Eid Gah mosque park. According to sources on November 28th, the Taliban members used inappropriate behavior to stop women from entering the park and freely walking within it. This has caused distress among a group of women who regularly visit the park for their daily walks, following medical recommendations. They have faced violent behavior from the Taliban group.
In addition to the park, the Taliban group has also prohibited women from visiting bridges. The residents of Jalalabad city express their concern, particularly for older women who have been using the park for walking and exercising after morning prayers. The Taliban’s ban on women’s presence in sports clubs, beauty parlors, public baths, and other public places has already severely restricted their participation in society. Experts believe that the Taliban is deliberately trying to marginalize women and remove them from society by depriving them of their basic rights, such as education and work.
Amidst the continuous oppression faced by Afghanistani women and girls under the Taliban’s rule, the restrictions imposed on their lives, including the prevention of exercising and walking in public spaces, highlight the dire situation they are facing. The Taliban’s actions not only violate basic human rights but also hinder the progress and empowerment of women in Afghanistani society. It is crucial for the international community to stand in solidarity with Afghanistani women and support efforts to ensure their rights and freedoms are protected. Only through collective action can we hope to bring about positive change and create a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
