RASC News Agency: Turkey has reported the arrest of 28 Afghanistani asylum seekers following two distinct operations. According to reports from Turkish media, one individual faces charges of “human trafficking,” with 15 Afghanistani refugees apprehended from the person’s residence in Kars city. In a separate operation, 13 Afghanistani refugees were detained while traveling in a vehicle at a checkpoint in Erzincan city.
The apprehended asylum seekers have undergone due procedures and have subsequently been handed over to the Immigration Departments of Kars and Erzincan cities in Turkey. This development follows previous reports from Turkish media indicating the return of over 800 Afghanistani refugees to the country after being held in detention. However, Turkey is not the sole nation intensifying the forced deportation process for Afghanistani refugees; Pakistan and Iran have also been daily deporting thousands of migrants from Afghanistan.
The situation in Afghanistan has prompted a significant exodus of its citizens for various reasons, including economic hardships and fear of the Taliban. Consequently, many have sought refuge in neighboring countries and the wider region. Nevertheless, with the recent crackdown on Afghanistani refugees, finding a secure haven has become increasingly challenging. It is imperative for the international community to collaboratively address this crisis and ensure the protection of refugees’ rights.
Upon their return after expulsion from neighboring countries, Afghanistani refugees encounter an array of challenges. In contrast, the Taliban group has exhibited a lack of concern for these households making their way back to Afghanistan.
