RASC News Agency: Residents of Dashte Barchi in western Kabul report that the Taliban are harassing young people at night under the pretext of conducting body searches. Several youths stated that two nights ago, Taliban forces stopped them in the Khairabad area of Dashte Barchi at 11:00 PM as they were returning from playing football. They were detained for about an hour and a half under the guise of a security search.
According to one source, the Taliban not only harassed the youths but also subjected them to “insults and humiliation,” citing security concerns as their justification. Another source mentioned, “They used various excuses to insult, humiliate, curse, and falsely accuse us, claiming we had stabbed someone and fled to the sports hall, which was untrue.”
He further revealed that he and his friends were subjected to sexual harassment, including inappropriate touching, by the Taliban fighters. The source added that this is not the first time the Taliban have harassed young people in the areas of Dashte Barchi, Qala-e Qazi, and Khairabad who go out at night for sports. Such actions have repeatedly occurred under the pretext of security.
It is noteworthy that the harassment of citizens in various parts of the country is not a new issue. In Kabul, and especially the capital, the Taliban frequently harass, insult, and humiliate citizens under various pretexts. Recent reports also indicated that the Taliban engaged in similar conduct in Karte Naw, Kabul, where they stopped and searched youths without cause, especially intensifying such activities at night.
