RASC News Agency: According to local sources in Khost province, the Taliban compelled students from various class schedules at Sheikh Zayed University in Khost to attend a meeting with Neda Mohammad Nadim, the acting Minister of Higher Education for the Taliban. These sources indicate that on Sunday, October 20, Taliban authorities at the university notified students about the delegation’s visit and made participation mandatory.
Sources reveal that students were warned their names would be removed from attendance records if they failed to comply. The Taliban justified the visit as an inspection of student attendance but reportedly forced students to attend through intimidation and harassment, coercing them into the session against their will. Nadim, leading the Taliban delegation, visited Khost the previous day. The Taliban prohibited any form of photography during the meeting, with strict instructions to photographers and videographers that filming or capturing images is “against Sharia.”
They emphasized that no one was permitted to take pictures of this or any similar gatherings. Furthermore, the acting minister instructed university officials to remove all images displayed on the walls and within the halls, denouncing such displays as the “practices of infidels,” and underscored the importance of enforcing their strict religious regulations.
This event highlights the Taliban’s continued enforcement of its extreme and rigid interpretation of religious law within academic institutions, severely undermining personal freedoms and stifling the educational atmosphere.
