RASC: Following the increase in heat in the country, a number of Uruzgan residents have said that they cannot cool their homes due to economic problems.

According to them, not having the financial ability to buy fans and air conditioners, the extreme heat has caused their children to suffer from various seasonal diseases.

One of these residents adds: “The economic situation of the people in Uruzgan is worrying. They do not have the ability to provide cooling devices. 70% of people do not have the ability to cool their homes.”

He said: “In these two or three weeks, the heat has increased a lot. Warmth has sent our children to the hospital. People are so poor that they cannot afford fans and air conditioners.”

Meanwhile, health officials in Uruzgan have said that every day they witness nearly 50 children suffering from seasonal diseases who are transferred to the private hospital of this province for treatment.

Abdulwaris Rahimi, the head of the pediatric department at civilians Hospital in Uruzgan, announced that the prevalence of seasonal diseases has tripled compared to previous years in this province and said that 80% of children in Uruzgan are affected by diarrhea.

He adds: “In the current season, which is summer and the weather is hot, microbes increase. “Seasonal diseases have tripled and 20 to 50 patients are admitted here every day.”

Due to the intensification of climate changes this year, Afghanistan, along with other countries, is also experiencing a lot of heat, and the lack of access to all-time electricity and cooling devices has made them face difficult conditions.
