RASC News Agency: Recent reports from Bamyan province have confirmed that the intelligence forces of the Taliban group have arrested Abdul Latif Qanbari, a university student. The arrest occurred on November 21st, following a speech given by Qanbari at a graduation ceremony for Bamyan University students. In his speech, Qanbari had urged the local authorities of the Taliban group to prioritize the security of the province’s residents. As of now, the Taliban group in Bamyan province has not issued any statement regarding this arrest.
It is important to note that the Taliban group has been carrying out arbitrary arrests of civilians and critics across various provinces ever since they took control of the country. Despite their claims of ensuring national security, there has been a noticeable surge in criminal activities, including targeted and mysterious murders, in different parts of the country. This contradicts the Taliban’s assertions and raises concerns about the safety and well-being of the Afghanistani population within the country.
In response to the rise in criminal activity in Bamyan province, a Taliban official acknowledged that during the fourteen years of the previous Republican regime, only 14 murders were reported in Bamyan. However, since the Taliban’s takeover, this number has significantly increased, with the perpetrators often being locals who manage to escape justice. This statement highlights the deteriorating security situation in the province and raises questions about the effectiveness of the Taliban’s governance in ensuring the safety of the people.
The aforementioned incident is not an isolated occurrence, as the Taliban organization has previously apprehended, physically abused, incarcerated, and even executed Afghanistani citizens, particularly non-Pashtun individuals.
