RASC News Agency: Residents of Kandahar province have complained about the increase in electricity bills, saying that they are unable to pay the electricity bills for the past two months.

The provincial office of the National Electricity Company/Bereshna under the administration of the Taliban group in Kandahar province has said that the electricity fee has not been added and the electricity fee sheet has been calculated based on the customers’ consumption.

But the residents of this province say that they cannot afford the huge cost of electricity.

Shadab, a resident of Kandahar province, told RASC news agency: “In the past, electricity consumption for two months cost me 2,000 Kabuli/Afghanis; But this time, the two-month consumption is calculated at 18,000 Kabuli/Afghanis, which shows a multiple increase, and I cannot afford this heavy cost. I will not deliver this amount myself”.

On the other hand, the citizens of this province say that the problem in Kandahar province should be fundamentally solved and the national electricity company/Bereshna should calculate the electricity bill on a monthly basis. Because the calculation of two months is detrimental to people and no one can afford to pay high costs at once.

At the same time, people have raised their protest voices on social networks and want to reduce the cost of electricity from the officials of the Taliban group.

They said: “They are not ready to pay such heavy amounts of electricity.”

Waseh, a resident of Ainomina town in Kandahar province, says: “If the electricity bill is calculated monthly, this problem will be solved, if two months are calculated at once; the electricity costs are high, but it will help to reduce the monthly electricity costs.

It should be noted that the unemployment and economic inability of the people to pay the heavy expenses of electricity and finances has become a serious problem for the group and the people want to reduce the expenses from the Taliban group.
