RASC News Agency: Local sources from Badakhshan province report that clashes have erupted between armed nomads and residents of Tagab district over grazing land. Sources indicated on Monday, June 24, that the conflict occurred the previous afternoon in the Yailaq area, near the village of Mirkani in Tagab district, Badakhshan.
According to these sources, two young residents of Tagab district were killed by gunfire from the nomads, and six others were injured. The sources add that this clash was between local residents and armed nomads supported by a former member of the Afghanistan parliament. According to the sources, this former parliament member, named Kamil Bek, has for several years handed over grazing land to the nomads as a form of tribute.
Taliban security officials in Tagab district reported the arrest of four individuals in connection with this incident and stated that two Kalashnikov rifles were seized from them. Clashes over grazing land between nomads and local residents are not new in various provinces of Afghanistan. However, since the Taliban’s takeover, such incidents have increased in Badakhshan and other areas.
Previously, sources from Nawur district in Ghazni reported that armed nomads had destroyed local farmers’ fields by driving their livestock through them, and the Taliban have ignored the residents’ complaints.
