RASC News Agency:The International Rescue Committee (IRC) has recently expressed concern over the plight of Afghanistani refugees who have been forcibly expelled from Pakistan. Abdul Khaliq Sediqi, the IRC coordinator, voiced these concerns on November 20th, shedding light on the numerous challenges that these refugees face. Among these challenges are harsh weather conditions and a lack of access to crucial psychological, social, and basic healthcare services. Many of these displaced individuals have lost all their belongings in Pakistan and are now confronted with the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch upon their return to Afghanistan. In light of these pressing issues, the IRC is urging international aid organizations to extend their support to these struggling refugees.
Despite the recent surge in arrests and deportations of undocumented Afghanistani immigrants from Pakistan, concerns from the IRC persist. The Pakistani government has justified these actions by citing the alleged involvement of Afghanistani citizens in terrorist attacks on Pakistani soil, as well as economic difficulties. In an effort to address these concerns, the government is implementing mandatory deportation measures. Furthermore, the head of the Religious Scholars Council of Pakistan has argued that the forced expulsion of Afghanistani refugees is necessary to ensure the country’s security.
Various sources report that the forced deportation of Afghanistani immigrants from Pakistan poses significant threats, particularly to women and former government soldiers. Save the Children Organization has documented that 80% of the immigrants expelled from Pakistan are women and children.
