Taliban Execute Three Former Security Forces Members in Ghor

RASC News Agency: Local sources from Ghor province report that the Taliban executed three brothers, former employees of the Ministry of Interior of the previous government, in the Murghab district. On Monday, July 29, sources informed the media that the Taliban conducted a “summary trial and execution” of these three former military personnel in front of the public in the village of Sarjangal, despite no crime being proven.

The sources stated that the three individuals had been engaged in farming since the fall of the Republic. However, the Taliban have claimed that they executed the men on charges of killing a Taliban member during an escape attempt. The media office of the Taliban governor in Ghor released a statement, declaring that these individuals were “three seditious elements and Kharijites” who had recently killed a Taliban member named Saeedullah.

According to the Taliban’s statement, these men fled after the murder but were later captured. The Taliban claim they were shot while attempting to escape from custody in Murghab district. The Taliban refer to ISIS as “Kharijites,” a term they also used to describe the executed individuals, stating that these men had been involved in activities under this label in Ghor before the Taliban’s takeover.

The statement added that the Taliban had previously “granted amnesty” to the three, but they were accused of “betrayal” after killing a Taliban member. Despite the Taliban’s declaration of a “general amnesty,” there have been numerous reports during their three-year rule of killings, arrests, and torture of former military personnel from the previous government.

The Taliban have also faced accusations of targeting former government employees, political opponents, and ordinary citizens under various pretexts, including alleged affiliations with ISIS.
