RASC News Agency: According to reports from the country’s media, the Pakistani government has initiated the process of apprehending and expelling “undocumented” Afghanistani immigrants in Peshawar, following similar actions taken in other parts of Pakistan. An article published in the Express Tribune on Sunday, November 19th, reveals that a special camp has been set up in the Nasir Bagh area of Peshawar to detain these individuals. The Pakistani police have been arresting Afghanistani immigrants and transferring them to the Juma Khan detention center before deporting them. Already, hundreds of Afghanistani immigrants have been arrested and sent to the center.
Moreover, it has been reported that more than 317,000 Afghanistani immigrants have been expelled from Pakistan and repatriated to Afghanistan through the Torkham and Chaman border crossings. This forcible deportation has attracted significant attention from international migration organizations and global authorities, who have repeatedly urged Pakistan to reconsider its decision. Despite these concerns, the Pakistani government remains resolute in its determination to implement this measure, citing the involvement of Afghanistani asylum seekers in terrorist attacks within Pakistan.
Furthermore, the Save the Children Organization has highlighted a noteworthy fact that 80% of the expelled migrants are women and children. The return of these vulnerable individuals to Afghanistan exposes them to a multitude of challenges and hardships. Consequently, there has been an upsurge of reactions and demands for Pakistan to reconsider its treatment of Afghanistani immigrants.
