RASC News Agency: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has recently addressed the dire circumstances faced by Afghanistani migrants expelled from Pakistan on the brink of winter, cautioning that the failure to provide shelter for these individuals could perilously lead to loss of life during the upcoming winter season. As outlined in a press release from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees on Sunday, December 10th, the inclement weather at the cold and challenging border crossings has left those arriving in urgent need of immediate assistance. According to the UN press release, specific regions in Afghanistan are experiencing a drop in temperature, leaving numerous displaced families from Pakistan uncertain about how and where to commence their lives anew in Afghanistan.
This unfolding scenario coincides with neighboring countries and the region intensifying the forced deportation of Afghanistani refugees, resulting in the daily expulsion and return of hundreds of migrants to the country. Reports indicate that the United Nations had previously voiced concerns about the plight of Afghanistani migrants expelled from Pakistan, emphasizing the heightened risks faced by Afghanistani migrants, especially women and girls, who encounter trafficking dangers upon their return. It is noteworthy that since the commencement of the process of expelling Afghanistani migrants from Pakistan, over 400,000 Afghanistani migrants have been expelled, with reports highlighting that the majority of those displaced are women and children.
Moreover, it should be underscored that earlier, the Human Rights Watch, in a report on the treatment of Pakistani police towards migrants, highlighted that these migrants face mistreatment, harassment, and the confiscation of their belongings during deportations by the Pakistani police.
