RASC News Agency: Asif Durrani, the Special Representative of Pakistan in Afghanistan affairs, recently addressed the issue of relocating members of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from the border areas to the northern regions of Afghanistan. In an interview with the YouTube channel “Ambassadors Hall,” Durrani revealed that the Taliban group has not yet implemented the plan, and approximately 6,000 Pakistani Taliban fighters continue to reside with their families in the border areas of Afghanistan.
Previously, the Pakistani government had reached an agreement with the Taliban group, stating that the TTP members should be moved from the border areas and relocated to the north of Afghanistan. However, Durrani’s latest statements indicate that despite several months passing since the plan’s inception, the Pakistani Taliban, who are members of the TTP, still remain in the border areas. This situation is a cause for concern for Pakistan.
Although Pakistan and the Taliban group had mutually agreed upon the relocation plan, it faced significant opposition within Afghanistan. The local population criticized the Taliban’s actions, leading to widespread reactions against the displacement of Pakistani Taliban fighters to the northern areas of the country. Furthermore, reports from the northern provinces have highlighted the challenges faced by local residents due to the presence of foreign fighters displaced by the Taliban group.
Overall, the failure to implement the plan to relocate TTP members from the border areas to the north of Afghanistan has raised concerns for Pakistan. Despite the initial agreement between both parties, the opposition within Afghanistan and the difficulties faced by the native residents of the northern provinces have posed challenges to the execution of the relocation plan.
