RASC News Agency: In the wake of the forced expulsion of Afghanistani refugees from neighboring countries, news has recently emerged regarding the mass deportation of over 14,000 Afghanistani migrants from Iran through the Islamic Qala border crossing over the last four days.
Abdullah Qayoomi, the official in charge of the Islam Qala border crossing, stated to the media on Thursday, November 9th, that there has been a significant increase in the number of migrants being expelled from Iran in recent days.
Mr. Qayoomi further added that the process of forced deportation of undocumented migrants from Iran has intensified following Pakistan’s decision to expel Afghanistani refugees from their country. On the other hand, some of the migrants who were deported from Iran have reported possessing documents; however, they were still expelled by the police of that country.
Meanwhile, over the past month, the forced expulsion of Afghanistani asylum seekers from Iran and Pakistan has intensified, resulting in a significant number of migrants returning to Afghanistan. According to reports, nearly 100,000 Afghanistani migrants have been forcibly returned from Iran, while more than 200,000 Afghanistani migrants have been deported from Pakistan.
It is worth mentioning that the migrants who have been forcibly returned to the country have voiced their complaints about their dire living conditions, urgently calling for assistance from international organizations and Taliban authorities. It should be noted that after the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan, a considerable number of youth, former military personnel, and women’s rights activists left the country with the aim of reaching European countries and have become migrants in neighboring countries.
Observers state that poverty, unemployment, the restricted circumstances faced by the youth and women, fear of the Taliban, and the prevailing situation within the country are among the primary reasons compelling citizens of Afghanistan to migrate.
