RASC News Agency: Local sources in the provinces of Panjshir and Kapisa have reported the onset of destructive floods in several regions. The floods, which occurred on the evening of Tuesday, August 20, ravaged the villages of Safedkoh, Gurawich, Shalkhezar, Maghzhar, and Kunda in the Rukha district, according to local reports. These natural disasters have wreaked havoc on the landscape, obliterating hundreds of acres of agricultural land, dozens of irrigation channels, power dams, and thousands of bridges and culverts. Sources also indicate that the village of Tawahk in the Anaba district has borne the brunt of the destruction.

The Taliban have acknowledged the likelihood of casualties resulting from the recent floods in the Rukha district; however, they have yet to provide definitive figures.

In parallel, local Taliban authorities in Kapisa province report that flooding in the Nijrab district has inflicted substantial financial losses. The head of the Taliban’s Information and Culture Department in Kapisa noted that the Ghaws and Kalan valleys of Nijrab experienced severe flooding on the evening of Tuesday, August 20. According to his account, this natural calamity led to the devastation of dozens of acres of farmland and the destruction of local shops.

This situation arises in the wake of a warning issued by the Taliban’s Meteorological Department under the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, which had cautioned about the likelihood of heavy rains and flooding across 15 provinces. Despite these warnings, the Taliban administration has yet to implement any preventative measures.
