RASC News Agency: Sources from Kabul Province have confirmed that Fahim Azimi, an advocate for girls’ education and a colleague of the Afghanistani girls’ robotics team, was apprehended by the Taliban in Kabul City approximately two months ago. Roya Mahboob, the founder of the Afghanistani girls’ robotics team, has verified the news of Mr. Azimi’s arrest, stating that he and his colleague were detained by the Taliban on charges of assisting the robotics team’s girls in leaving the country and organizing protests.
On Wednesday, December 6th, Mrs. Mahboob posted a message on the social media platform X, revealing that the Taliban group arrested Mr. Azimi and his colleague on October 17th in Karta-e-Chahar, located in the third district of Kabul city. Since then, they have remained imprisoned by the Taliban group. Fahim Azimi holds a prominent position as the head of the Digital Citizen Fund in Kabul, an organization that has provided education to numerous female students. Roya Mahboob, who is also one of the founders of this educational center, has entrusted the management of the center in Afghanistan to Mr. Azimi.
According to Ms. Mahboob’s statement, Fahim Azimi possessed a license for educational activities and was actively involved in humanitarian aid efforts. The Taliban group accused him of collaborating in the departure of the Afghanistani robotic girls’ team following the fall of Kabul, as well as orchestrating protests against the group, leading to his arrest. In light of these circumstances, the head of Afghanistan’s robotic girls has called upon UNAMA and other international institutions to swiftly intervene and secure the release of Fahim and his colleague.
