RASC News Agency: Sheikh Yar Mohammad Farooqi, the head of the western zone of the Afghanistan Red Crescent Society, announced today, November 5th, that his department has provided both monetary and non-monetary assistance to households affected by the recent earthquakes in Herat.
The department has donated 15 million Kabuli rupees, (the current currency in Afghanistan), to the families in need. This aid has been swiftly delivered to two thousand affected households in Rabat Sangi, Golran, and Zinda Jan districts of Herat province, with priority given to those facing the most severe circumstances.

The earthquakes in Herat have resulted in significant loss of life and severe financial hardship for the province’s populace. Numerous residences in the affected districts have been decimated, leaving residents forced to dwell in makeshift tents within the arid desert.
As the winter season looms, these vulnerable households are faced with an even greater danger. Their plea to the officials of the Taliban group urges the urgent construction of temporary shelters to safeguard them against the harsh elements.

Despite the extensive aid provided by countries worldwide to the affected families in Herat province, the recipients have voiced concerns regarding the misappropriation of a substantial portion of these donations by individuals associated with the Taliban group. This raises serious doubts about the equitable distribution of aid and highlights the pressing need for heightened transparency within the process.
The Taliban group, tasked with aiding and supporting the affected people in the country, has instead exhibited a focus on seizing the donated assistance, further exacerbating the dire situation faced by the victims.
