RASC News Agency: The United Nations Assistance Mission for Afghanistan (UNAMA) has launched an investigation into the recent detonation that took place at a Shia mosque in Baghlan province. In a statement released on Friday, October 13, UNAMA expressed its profound condolences to the affected families in light of this tragic incident. The organization is actively involved in conducting on-site efforts to ascertain the precise circumstances surrounding this event. Furthermore, UNAMA has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to thoroughly investigate the explosion that transpired at the Shia mosque situated in Pul-e-Khumri city within Baghlan province.
Despite the devastating loss of 21 lives and the injuries suffered by nearly 40 individuals resulting from the explosion during the afternoon Friday prayer at Pul-e-Khumri’s Imam Zaman Shia Mosque, located on the first street of Selow in Baghlan’s center, the Taliban group has reported a death toll of seven individuals, with 15 others sustaining injuries.
It is crucial to note that the Khorasan branch of ISIS has claimed responsibility for this heinous attack, attributing it to one of their suicide bombers.
Moreover, it should be emphasized that the ISIS group has previously targeted and mercilessly killed a substantial number of Shia individuals residing in various provinces, particularly those with a predominantly Hazara population.
It is worth mentioning that numerous countries around the globe have consistently expressed concerns regarding the presence and activities of terrorist groups in Afghanistan under the Taliban’s rule.
