RASC News Agency: On November 5th, Reports emerged from Mazar-e-Sharif, the central city of Balkh province, unveiling an incident involving a young girl who took her own life. The girl, identified as Homa, had recently been liberated from a Taliban prison after being apprehended by the Taliban’s intelligence department at a checkpoint in the seventh district of Mazar-e-Sharif on October 29th.
For three days, she was held captive, enduring excruciating torture and relentless abuse. Homa was an active member of a resilient network of women who had been vehemently protesting against the Taliban’s abhorrent and oppressive treatment of women. However, the precise circumstances surrounding her untimely demise have not yet been solidified by the protesting women’s network in Balkh province.
Homa, a 26-year-old student at Balkh University’s education faculty, was discovered lifeless, suspended from the ceiling of her room subsequent to her release from the Taliban’s deplorable prison. This incident has amplified concerns regarding the plight of women under the Taliban’s rule, with reports emerging from various provinces, detailing the suppression, arrests, and torture endured by these protesting women.
Significantly, the Taliban faction in Balkh province has abstained from issuing any statement in response to this event, despite prior reports documenting their continued mistreatment of women within their prisons.
Furthermore, the fate of two additional protesting women, Zhulia Parsi and Nida Parwani, recently apprehended by the Taliban in Kabul province, remains shrouded in uncertainty.
