RASC News Agency: The head of the Taliban’s Migration Affairs in Nimroz Province announced that Iran has expelled more than 20,000 Afghanistani children through the Nimroz border over the past year. Mohammad Haroun Wahidi, the border official of the Taliban’s Migration Department in Nimroz, stated that these children were deported without their parents and returned to Afghanistan, according to Tolo News.
He added, “Last year, twenty thousand expelled children were registered with us, and cooperating institutions at the Imam Sahib border in health, transportation, and other sectors are assisting them.” Wahidi further noted that on average, 40 to 50 parentless children are forcibly returned from Iran to Afghanistan through the Milak border daily. This Taliban official added that these parentless children expelled from Iran face difficulties and uncertain futures in Afghanistan.
Additionally, Alaeddin Amiri, an official in charge of labor and social affairs for the Taliban in Nimroz, stated that over the past year, they have only been able to locate “three thousand parentless children sent from Iran to Nimroz” in various provinces, and these children have been entrusted to their relatives and families. Two days ago, a deputy mayor stated that there are seventy thousand working children in Tehran, seventy-five percent of whom are Afghanistani nationals.
After the Taliban’s takeover, unemployment and poverty among families have significantly increased, leading some citizens, including children, to migrate to neighboring countries for livelihoods.
