RASC News Agency: According to local sources from the province of Uruzgan, a teenage girl in the district of “Uruzgan Khas” has taken her own life, bringing an end to her life by hanging herself.

Sources have informed the media on Friday, October 27, that this young girl, on Wednesday, October 25, around six o’clock in the evening, hanged herself in the district of “Uruzgan khas” within this province.

According to the sources, the girl was 12 years old and a resident of the “Juy-e Now” area (Shashpar) in Uruzgan khas. Moreover, based on the information provided, it appears that she resorted to such an extreme action due to the restrictions imposed by the Taliban group on the lives of women and girls.

This incident occurs at a time when suicide rates and violence against women in various provinces of the country are increasing. In the latest report, cases of two suicides and one murder of women have been documented in the provinces of Faryab, Daikundi, and Herat.

Mental illnesses, psychological pressures resulting from the imposed restrictions by the Taliban group, domestic violence, low levels of literacy and awareness, and lack of access to mental health services are believed to be among the contributing factors to the high suicide rates among women in different provinces of the country.

It is worth mentioning that recently, the United Nations also stated in a report that with the Taliban’s control over the country and the enforcement of limitations on the lives of Afghanistani women and girls, the rate of suicides among them has increased.

It is reported that the prohibitions on working in domestic and foreign institutions, barriers to education, restrictions on free movement, travel bans, and other imposed limitations on the lives of Afghanistani women by the Taliban group are causing immense suffering for them.
