RASC News Agency: The plight of Afghanistan’s most vulnerable families during the approaching winter season has prompted the World Food Program to make an urgent appeal for 400 million dollars in funding. The organization took to its social media platform on October 25th, to highlight the dire situation and stress that prompt assistance is imperative. Expressing gratitude, the World Food Program (WFP) recognized the European Union’s contribution of over 21.6 million dollars in humanitarian aid. This support will enable the WFP to provide crucial assistance to 21 million Afghanistani people who find themselves in a state of vulnerability and food insecurity.

A recent report by the World Food Program reveals that one-third of the Afghanistani population faces uncertainty regarding their next meal. The country’s humanitarian crisis has been considerably exacerbated by the Taliban’s rise to power. Moreover, the restrictions imposed on Afghanistani women’s participation in various domestic and foreign institutions have severely limited their opportunities in different provinces. These factors have further intensified the number of individuals in desperate need.

While it is important to acknowledge the efforts of some aid agencies in certain provinces of Afghanistan, who continue to distribute cash and food aid to struggling families, it is crucial to note that several international aid organizations have reduced their assistance due to budget constraints. This makes the World Food Program’s funding appeal even more critical. The organization’s call is pivotal in ensuring that the most vulnerable families in Afghanistan receive the essential support required to endure the winter season.
