RASC News Agency: In its ongoing efforts to address the urgent humanitarian crisis, the World Food Program (WFP) has recently extended its assistance to more than a thousand destitute families across three provinces in Afghanistan. This noteworthy initiative comes as a response to the pressing needs of vulnerable communities. On Monday, October 23, the Department of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, under the auspices of the Taliban group, informed that 869 families in the Pasaband district of Ghor province received vital food aid. The distribution was carried out through the innovative “Work for Food” program, which aims to empower individuals while meeting their immediate sustenance requirements.
Similarly, the Department of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, in conjunction with the Taliban group, has collaborated with the WFP to extend support to 500 disadvantaged families in Khost province. In the Mosakhil district, this vital aid reached those who are in dire need. The distribution encompassed six essential food items, catering to the nutritional requirements of the recipients. Additionally, the Directorate of Refugees and Returnees, in affiliation with the Taliban group, has reported that the WFP extended its helping hand to 569 families affected by drought in the Del Aram district of Nimroz province. Various institutions have been involved in the distribution process, ensuring that families receive essential food items and health kits.
It is crucial to acknowledge that under the two-year reign of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, poverty has taken a grim upsurge, resulting in widespread hunger and anguish among countless families. Although these commendable aid efforts have been undertaken, the citizens of the nation remain skeptical about the extent to which they can alleviate their economic strife. Consequently, a heartfelt plea for increased attention and support from the local authorities resonates among the citizens, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive measures to address the ever-deepening economic challenges.
