RASC News Agency: according to the Guardian news agency, Rishi Sunak’s The Prime Minister held talks with the Palestinian Authority leader in Egypt as a part of his regional tour aimed at mitigating the escalation of the conflicts included a meeting with Mahmoud Abbas, the leader of the Palestinian Authority. During their discussions, both leaders condemned the actions of Hamas and reiterated their support for a two-state solution to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

A spokesperson for Sunak emphasized the importance of safeguarding civilians and civilian infrastructure, as well as minimizing the loss of innocent lives. The leaders acknowledged the need for all parties involved to take proactive steps in this regard.

This meeting took place shortly after Abbas announced that he would not be meeting with Joe Biden during the US president’s recent visit to the region. Abbas cited the tragic explosion at the al-Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza as the reason for his decision.

Addressing the media, Sunak’s spokesperson emphasized that both Sunak and Abbas condemned the acts of terrorism committed by Hamas. It was stressed that Hamas does not represent the Palestinian people as a whole.

Sunak arrived in Cairo on Friday, marking the final leg of his Middle East tour aimed at preventing further escalation in the Israel-Hamas conflict. During his visit, he expressed his deep condolences for the loss of civilian lives, including the devastating destruction of the al-Ahli hospital.

Reiterating the United Kingdom’s longstanding commitment to a two-state solution, Sunak affirmed his desire for a future where both Israelis and Palestinians can coexist in peace and security.

In addition to meeting with Abbas, Sunak also held discussions with Egypt’s president, Abdel Fatah al-Sisi. It was agreed upon that leaders must work together to avoid further conflict in the region, with both countries sharing a vision for the Palestinian people’s security, opportunities, and dignity.
