RASC News Agency: In the wake of the earthquake that struck Herat province last week, countless residents have been greatly impacted. Interestingly, the Taliban faction has offered its appreciation for the humanitarian aid extended by Iran to those affected.
On the October 16th, the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed its gratitude to the Iranian embassy in Kabul through a formal letter. This missive recognized Iran’s prompt and generous assistance to the earthquake victims, seeing it as a demonstration of Tehran’s dedication to both Islamic principles and humanitarian values.
Notably, Iran has dispatched multiple rounds of aid to assist the earthquake-stricken people of Afghanistan. The most recent statistics paint a grim picture, with 4,500 individuals either killed or injured, and a significant number displaced.
However, it is important to highlight that the Taliban, despite failing to take immediate action to rescue those affected in the initial days of the earthquake, expressed their thanks for Iran’s humanitarian intervention. It has been claimed by certain sources within the group that the Taliban facilitated the establishment of a rescue team for the victims. Yet, there are doubts regarding their sincerity in effectively distributing the humanitarian assistance.
Furthermore, it is crucial to emphasize that Amnesty International has previously emphasized the importance of distributing humanitarian aid to all earthquake victims without any discrimination, taking into account the history of humanitarian efforts directed towards the people of Afghanistan.
In addition to Iran’s aid, several other nations, including China, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates, have also pledged their support to the victims of this devastating earthquake.
