RASC news Agency: Mullah Abdul Salam Hanafi, the administrative deputy of the Taliban, recently stated that in the past two years since the group took control of Afghanistan, mental illnesses have been spreading among the population.
In a statement released by the Taliban-controlled organ on Monday, October 16, it was mentioned that Mullah Hanafi made these remarks yesterday during a grand ceremony commemorating the Afghanistani Red Crescent Society’s National Volunteer Week in Kabul.
He referred to the Afghanistan’s Red Crescent Society as a non-profit organization and stated that it impartially utilizes charitable contributions from domestic and international entities.
The administrative deputy of the Taliban stated that congenital heart defects among Afghanistani children and mental illnesses are among the common diseases prevalent in Afghanistan.
He added that the treatment for these patients has been extremely challenging, but the Afghanistan’s Red Crescent Society has undertaken effective activities in this regard.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that since their takeover of the country, the Taliban have consistently imposed oppressive and violent restrictions on the citizens.
It is worth mentioning that previously, a representative of the World Health Organization in Afghanistan had stated that half of the Afghanistani population suffers from mental disorders.
At the same time, it is noteworthy that the Taliban’s control over Afghanistan and the resulting developments, including unemployment and poverty among the country’s citizens, have created favorable conditions for the spread of mental illnesses among the population.
