RASC News Agency: In the aftermath of the tragic incident, media reports have shed light on the concerning reality that the ISIS group has claimed responsibility for the devastating explosion that ripped through a Shia mosque in Pul-e-Khumri city, located in the central region of Baghlan province.
The New York Times newspaper has divulged that the ISIS group released a photograph, unequivocally asserting that the attack carried out by one of their suicide bombers was a deliberate act of terror.

Based on the information at hand, the ghastly incident unfolded during the pious observance of Friday prayer at the revered Imam Zaman mosque in the tranquil Sellow area of Pul-e-Khumri city. Astoundingly, this religious sanctuary, catering exclusively to the Shia community, was specifically targeted with the malicious intent of an explosive attack.
Reliable public sources have confirmed that the recent mosque explosion, tragically claimed to be a suicide attack, occurred when the assailant detonated himself at the entrance. The latest update from a private hospital in Baghlan province distressingly reports a death toll of 21 individuals, with an additional 40 innocent individuals grievously injured and requiring urgent medical attention.

However, a conflicting source has presented alternative information, asserting that the explosion resulted in seven casualties and 18 injuries, with the potential for these figures to escalate further. Importantly, it should be noted that the ISIS group has a history of claiming responsibility for targeting mosques and Shia congregations across various provinces in the country.

This grim incident is especially poignant in light of the Taliban group’s assurances of ensuring security in all provinces and their purported suppression of terrorist organizations. Moreover, neighboring countries, particularly Afghanistan’s neighboring nations, have voiced concerns over the rampant presence and wide-ranging activities of the ISIS group in Afghanistan, operating under the alleged control of the Taliban group.
