RASC News Agency: According to statistics compiled from reports by Bakhtar News Agency, under Taliban control, both Iran and Pakistan have deported 1,400 Afghanistani refugee families within the past week. These reports indicate that 1,073 families were expelled from Iran, while 327 families were forced to return from Pakistan during this period.
The data reveals that in the past week, 126 families crossed back into Afghanistan through the Torkham border and 201 families via the Spin Boldak route. Meanwhile, 430 families re-entered through the Pul-e Abrisham border, and 643 families returned via the Islam Qala border. It is important to note that these deportations from Iran and Pakistan were carried out either “forcibly or voluntarily.”
Despite this, the Taliban-controlled news agency did not provide figures for the number of returning migrants from Iran and Pakistan on Thursday, October 17. Since the Taliban’s resurgence, over ten million Afghanistani citizens have fled the country due to ethnic, linguistic, religious, and political persecution, as well as rampant poverty, fear, unemployment, and deprivation.
Reports further highlight the harsh treatment these stateless refugees face at the hands of both the local populations and authorities in Iran and Pakistan. Ironically, while some countries, particularly Iran, express dissatisfaction with the presence of Afghanistani refugees, they maintain friendly ties and cooperative relations with those who have caused these people to become refugees in the first place.
